The Mozart Society of Glynn County

P.O. Box 20406  St Simons Island, Georgia 31522

The Mozart Society of Glynn County was organized in 1955 by Artiss DeVolt Zacharias and other devotees of classical music.  Our purpose is to promote classical music and to award scholarships to Glynn County music students from sixth grade through the first year of college.

Since our founding we have donated thousands of dollars for scholarships. In addition we provided funds for the start of a Youth Symphony begun by the Coastal Symphony of Georgia with continued instruction funded by the County Board of Education.

Since its inception, The Mozart Society has been affiliated with the International Mozart Foundation of Salzburg, Austria

We are a 501(c)(3) organization that provides scholarships based on yearly auditions.

Meetings normally occur in September, November, January, and April on the fourth Sunday at 3:00 P.M. They are held in members’ homes or in local church or resort facilities. The Society sponsors a Benefit Concert, the proceeds of which are used to fund the scholarships.  A winners’ concert is held in April and is open to the public
